Sims 2 mania on the charts. Just what I like to see.

Franchise of steel.

I didn't buy any of those games and I've only played one of them

The WoW numbers are ridiculous. Burning Crusade sold slightly less than 3-10 combined. 1+2 sold way more than every other one combined.

Also, it's amazing how Maxis games consistently sell so much.

I got Sim City 4 a long time ago. I can't play it anymore because it keeps messing up my computer. icon_sad.gif

I know plenty of socially active individuals that manage to play the game and still have a meaningful outside life.

Of course, I'm not that part of that statistic icon_sad.gif but there are certainly many that are. It really is a casual MMORPG and that's why it's so popular.

What the hell happened that sim games became so popular?

What the hell happened that sim games became so popular?

History time!

It all started with precursors like Sim City, Sim Ant, Sim Town, Sim Tower (<3!!!!!) in the early 90s under the Maxis brand. In 1999, computer gaming was revolutionized with the creation of The Sims, the most successful game franchise in the history of PC gaming. EA Games realized the potential and bought out Maxis, but kept the name, since when you think "sim" you think "Maxis." Since then, EA/Maxis' sim line has grown exponentially in revenue, units sold, and success.

SimTower was the bomb.

Yeah, i know all that - ive been gaming for most of it. The whole genre of simulations aswell as the franchise "Sim.." is obviously popular and money-hoovering into the new millennium and whatnot...

But why? Past SimCity ive found them to be tedious as fuck. Maybe im just getting old, or the whole idea is just stale and used-over...maybe both. Whatever the case, it doesnt make sense to me to "Sim" somebody's life, go to a job, wash the dishes, have kids, clean the floor, sleep...etc in a game, when you do all that shit in real life icon_razz.gif.

Whats wrong with blowing demons to pieces like in the good old days?

It's that core desire to do things that you could never do in reality. For example, be a mayor (SimCity), be an architect (that's different in my case, lol - SimTower) or be God (The Sims).

Simtower may have been the best game ever created; obviously debatable to most people, but I'm smarter. You know, I take that back, I would have to say Simcopter was the best game ever created, Simtower is an easy second.

The only thing that has a chance of rekindling my sim game playing is Spore icon_razz.gif. Now THATS a god game.

Dominated by RPG/Sim games. Meh...
Tigerclawz
So they have WoW but not Guild Wars........ Shame on them.....

I haven't played any of them exept Sims 2. And I hated it when I did... It is so damn boring.... and I suck, but that is besides the point... icon_razz.gif
