Who's planning on getting it tomorrow?

I just watched the video review on IGN and it looks like an amazing game. They seem to have (for the most part) fixed problems with the campaign, but apparently there is still some backtracking. And I played the beta so I know that the multiplayer is awesome.

Got 9.5 from IGN and 9.5 from Gamespot. This is going to be an amazing game. Multiplayer is extremely robust, including Forge mode and film viewer etc.

I was invited to my mall's event tonight (GameStop Erin called!), but I didn't want to go. It's just gonna be a big freakshow tonight... Kids that should be in school the following day, but will stay home and play all day.
I'll pick up my preordered Limited Edition tomorrow afternoon. GameStop guarantees a preorder for 48 hours.

Everyone was wearing the "3" surrounded by the halo today, and I struck up a conversation with one of them and he said "I don't even have a 360 yet and I have it (halo 3)" lol...i wish I had 360

Tis an awesome game.
There was a Halo 3 display (like the stores have) in the lobby of my school today. I guess the Marketing II class bought it. It was pretty sweet seeing Master Chief in my school's rotunda.

First Impressions:
Campaign: Seems fun, but I decided to play on Heroic and I keep dying at the end of the first mission. :/ It's like impossible, or maybe I just suck. I'll probably restart on normal, so I don't have much to say about the campaign since I keep dying!
Online: Seems really fun. Most of my games have been smooth and I've been matched to a group quickly, but there was a time frame where the whole service was down, probably due to overload. I've done a mix of Team Slayer, Slayer, and Crazy King maps. Just like the Beta, and the Needler pwns now. It's easy to mute annoying little kids, and I've already had to do it.

The theater is AMAZING. Best.feature.ever.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it soon in Microsoft's new "Games for Windows" format.

You have to understand that Halo 3 is a HUGE selling point of the Xbox 360, and to put in on PC would be an extremely poor choice by Microsoft. I don't expect to see it until late in the Xbox 360's lifetime.
Just look at Halo 2, took almost 3 years to be ported to PC.

It'd be a big selling point for Games for Windows too because they're being designed to only work on Vista. Porting it to the PC wouldn't be detrimental to 360 sales. It'd be yet another reason to upgrade to Vista.

Possibly. Only time will tell.
Finished the Campaign on Legendary in 3 player co-op. Legendary difficulty is a bit of a joke in co-op (and we didn't even have 4 people) but it still a blast to play through. Definitely the most enjoyable campaign of the Halo series.

I don't see why Halo is such a popular game..
I've seen my brother play it, and tried it out, and i found it really boring and repetitive..
What do you guys find so great about it?

All first person shooters can be "boring and repetitive".
People like it because it's simply a fun game. Fun campaign with an interesting plot and great computer AI, and the multiplayer is just awesome.

Yep, there are just so many awesome moments in the game, and thanks to the Theater feature, you can watch them over and over again.
Like when I was doing a Team Slayer match in Narrows, and I charged the enemy base and single handedly killed all 4 of them with my Assault Rifle and some grenades. I'm not an especially great player in the game so it's pretty sweet when stuff like that happens. Then you can save the film and watch it in slow-mo etc.

So does it automatically record every game and you hit save at the end? Or do you click record or something...

It automatically keeps the 20 most recent games in cache so you can save them if you want and then they're kept permanently. Files are around 6 MB for a 10 minute game.
In the Theater mode, you can watch the game from the POV of any player, zoom in and out and control the camera yourself, record clips, take screenshots, and lots of other stuff. It's really fun.

It's a moronic waste of time. No better than football.
Honestly, people can spend all their time playing Halo(or other silly video games) and be seen as intelligent people, while other people spend their time doing things that are no less pointless (e.g. smoking weed) are seen as "stoners" and "losers."

Well video games can help improve reaction time and other things.
And really, hardcore gaming has a strong negative stigma associated with it as well. It has yet to be accepted as a valid hobby among adults, unlike music, movies, etc.

lol I have no life. Just got full Hayabusa Armor (from Ninja Gaiden) which is unlocked from getting all 13 skulls in campaign. So basically, I beat campaign again.

I'll take a picture of it today and post it.
I have 825/1000 gamerpoints in the game, missing some of the multiplayer ones (which I may never get) and the meta game ones.

Well, after almost two weeks experience with multiplayer (I'm a Captain now, 110 EXP), I can say that it is incredibly fun, and by far the best multiplayer in a console FPS. It's much more fun than Halo 2, and firefights feel much more balanced. Your starting weapon no longer sucks, the Assault Rifle can really beat anything if you know what you're doing and you play your cards right. The only remotely "weak" weapon choices are single wielding weapons than can be dual wielded (such as SMG or spiker) but even then they are still formidable. The Plasma Pistol is probably the worst in most situations, but it has the use of disabling vehicles. There are still weapons that feel "cheap", as in most FPS games. The Rocket Launcher can pwn pretty much anything, and the Sword, Hammer, Shotgun, and Mauler can pwn anything at close range. But still, you never feel completely hopeless, and I've killed many people wielding those weapons with just the Assault Rifle.
The Theater feature is amazing, and I haven't used Forge much, but from the maps I've played that were made using Forge are incredibly fun and it seems easy to use.
There are lots of armor choices, but most of the high ranking people just use Hayabusa gear.

The ranking system adds a whole new dimension to the game, and shows how much time and experience someone has invested into the game. Some of the Matchmaking playlists are iffy right now (fucking Shotty Snipers) but I know Bungie will improve those over time, like they did in Halo 2. Some of the maps are also pretty bad, but I also know Bungie will release more maps to make even more money.

So yeah...it's a fun game and its multiplayer should keep people entertained until Microsoft's next console.

Easiest game ever. Played through campiaign, was constantly asking myself why the hell I was still playing it. Hayabusa Armor, seemed special, but the skulls are so damn easy to find, it's nothing anymore. Online is okay, gets pretty repetitive. My favorite part would have to be forge. Got 1000 gamerscore easily. Went through the last level on a mongoose, as well as a chopper on Legendary. No I will not tell you how to do it, no I will not help you do it.
My review: 6/10. Boring campaign, easy achievements. Forge will be the only thing bringing me back to this game.
