I am getting a Nintendo DS for my birthday - anyone recommend any good games? I have heard about this strategy game coming out clalled Anno1701 - looks cool, get to make your own island and sail the stormy seas!

- Mario Kart DS (great game, wi-fi gives it tons of replay value)
- New Super Mario Bros. (it's mario)
Those are the two must haves. I have to admit, Pokemon is also pretty fun, if you liked it when you were younger, pick it up for the DS, you won't regret it (but you will feel a bit nerdy )

id think that mario kart and super mario bros are both good. Have you tried Dr Kawashima's Brain Training, which i thought would be another run of the mill boring testing game, but is quite addictive once you get into it. Also id buy pokemon when it comes out in the UK if your still into that kind of game.

pokemon's fun, but i feel like a geek playing it...

animal crossing is great, play it for a year, then it gets boring...

- Pokémon, for sure: Pearl is the better version.
- Lunar Knights: This game just kicks ass.
- Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow: Again, this game just kicks ass.
- Harvest Moon DS
- Rune Factory: A fantasy Harvest Moon.

Though I don't have a DS, a friend once lent me his for a week

Wow, thanks! take it you have a few! lol. have you tried anno1701? i have played it and it seems quite straightforward. easy to build your empire and quite good cos i like strategy games, makes you think a bit you know.

I have Pokemon Diamon, Mario Kart DS, Tetris DS, New Super Mario Bros and Advance Wars: Dual Strike. Th eonly one I still play is Pokemon. I honestly feel NSMB is overrated... >-> I recommend Pokemon and Mario Kart the most, though. :3
